We really VALUE the people of our city and what we want is to inspire, unite and encourage the people of Wollongong and Shellharbour to do the same.

We want to INSPIRE people to use what God has put in our hands and hearts - skills, talents and dreams; to help meet the needs of our awesome community.

Getting connected with our wider community means that we can find out what are the true needs of our community and UNITE together to help make a difference.

INITIATIVES

As a way to love our city, life groups and individuals are constantly carrying out WE LOVE OUR CITY initiatives. These initiatives are ideas that we can follow through on that benefit both our city and the people that live in it.

Examples of these initiatives are such things as regular blood donations, raising money for the less fortunate, finding or providing work and skills to those who are stuggling, and many more. The list of initiatives possible is only limited by your imagination, as resources are often provided by others who would like to get involved in your initiative.


Starting a WE LOVE OUR CITY initiative:



1: GET AN IDEA
When you come up with a great initiative to love your city then we want to know about it!

Grab a WE LOVE OUR CITY flyer from the church foyer and fill out the tear-off section; telling us what your idea is. Then drop this into the red WE LOVE OUR CITY box at either the church Information Desk (1 Railway Station Sq, Wollongong), or at the WE LOVE OUR CITY desks at both Wollongong and Shellharbour Sunday services. Alternatively, email your idea (as well as any questions, comments, or collected media) to weloveourcity@lighthousechurch.com.au.

By informing us of your idea we can encourage and support you along the way, as well as let others know about your initiative.

Also, become a fan of our Facebook page and post your idea under the 'Discussions' tab. While you are here, check out all of the other WE LOVE OUR CITY initiatives that are going on. By commenting on these discussions you can expand on the ideas of others, as well offer encouragement.




2: CARRY OUT YOUR INITIATIVE
When carrying out your initiative, put on your WE LOVE OUR CITY T-Shirt (these are availible for $25 from Lighthouse Church Sunday services). By wearing your shirt, people in the community will be able to recognise when a WE LOVE OUR CITY initiative is taking place.

Also, hand out your WE LOVE OUR CITY Business Card during your initiatives, as well as while simply out in the city shopping or having lunch. These cards help people to get connected with WE LOVE OUR CITY and by people coming onboard the movement to love the Illawarra grows.
While carrying out your initiative, don't forget to take photos and video. By collecting small pieces of media you can help us follow and document the WE LOVE OUR CITY initiatives that are bettering our city.
